1.3 DEFINITION OF INTERNSHIP
An internship is a sequential occupation or training taken by a student or a trainee in order to learn a profession or a trade. It involves learning in the field of the profession what the entire student has been hearing or seeing only in class but can now see in the field of practice.

1.4 OBJECTIVES OF INTERNSHIP
An internship program has the following objectives:-
 To narrow the objectives down to the legal field of law students thereby blending theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
 Furthermore, an internship program helps in evaluating the knowledge the student has acquired in class with practical experience in court or chambers.
 To acquaint the student with real life situations about the field of profession he/ she has decided to take.
 To broaden the horizon of the student so as to be able to situate classroom knowledge (theory) to field exercise (practice).

1.3 RELEVANCE
 It is important in confirming the knowledge passed from the teacher to the students by the student. During internship, the student confirms all the lesson the teacher had been giving.
 The internship program is also important in blending theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The student has a better and a wider knowledge after internship because his knowledge of the subject or profession is increased.
 It is also important in providing a plat form or stepping stone to what the student will do after graduation. The internship program trains the student and after graduation, the student has a mastery of things in practice and also ethics and behaviors involved in practice such as dressing, punctuality, language, court attendance and behavior in court, relationship with clients and all the like. Ignorance after graduation is reduced.
 More casually, during and after the internship program, the student has this joy and fulfillment and love and satisfaction in choosing the profession. It gives a taste of how interesting and challenging the profession is and also determines the way the student should work hard in order to attain full professional capacity.
 The internship program helps the student a lot. It is important in confirming the classrooms knowledge with what is involved in actual practice. In the legal field, the student will find out that practice entails a lot of different methods from lectures and theory. This knowledge after the internship program helps to reduce ambiguity in the mind of the student.
 It is also important in evaluating the strength and weaknesses of the student in different areas of practice. This helps the student in working hard so as to achieve bitterness when he/ she reached full professional capacity.
