ABSTRACT

This study investigated government structure and the promotion of Human Rights in Wouri Division. To meet up with the broad coverage of the study, the study was guided by three specific objectives, which were; to investigate the contributions and freedom of  NCHR in the promotion of human rights in Wouri Division, to ascertain the challenges faced by NCHR in the promotion of human rights in Wouri Division, and to propose possible measures to combat the challenges faced by NCHR in the promotion of human rights in Wouri Division. The study adopted the descriptive research design, while primary source of data collection was also employed for the study, through the administration of 100 questions to the targeted respondents, who were some employees (100 employees) of the NCHR in Wouri Division, Littoral Region of Cameroon. descriptive analyses were done, while the results were displayed on tables, and read through frequencies and charts. The findings of the study revealed that NCHR has been effective in promoting and protecting human rights. However, the study also identified some challenges faced by NCHR, including political interference, funding constraints, and lack of public awareness and education on human rights. The study recommended various policy options and further studies to address these challenges. The implementation of these policy options and further research would strengthen the promotion and protection of human rights in Cameroon.
