This long essay THE PROTECTION OF THE RIGHTS OF PRETRIAL DETAINEES IN CAMEROON” focuses on the legal framework that protects detainees before trial is commenced. It focuses of the specific rights of pretrial detainees and the extent to which these rights are protected internationally, regionally and nationally.  It focuses of those legal instruments Cameroon has ratified and how commitment is Cameroon in implementing them. This work addresses qualitative methodology of research and doctrinal method. Considerable literature has proven that efforts still need to be done enormously in protecting the rights of pretrial detainees. A finding through this work shows that it is difficult to protect rights of pretrial detainees as such the researcher recommends a committed approach in enforcing laws regarding the rights of pretrial detainees as well as pressure from other states through naming and shaming scenario.
