ABSTRACT
This thesis aimed at exploring youth‘s knowledge, attitudes and awareness through skills acquisition to benefit the local-global societies. Purposive random sampling survey was used, primary and secondary sources were also used to answer the research questions and attain the research objectives. The instrument for data collection was observation and guided close ended questionnaires. This thesis discovered that lack of proper knowledge, attitudes and awareness of technical and vocational education are responsible for these social anomalies and challenges; high rate of unemployment (3.40%), high crime rates (69.13%) percent, teenage pregnancy (12/14%), emergence of slums (38%), drug abuse rate (21%). The results concluded that technical and vocational education can transform society. The thesis suggests, among others, that additional model technical and vocational schools should be established in Buea. Some strategies were highlighted for positive change in society.
