Definition of internship

Internship is the position of students or trainee who works in an organization, sometimes without pay in order to gain work experience or satisfy requirements for qualification.

Internship objectives

UNIT: INTENSIVE CARE

  • Assist in basic resuscitation technique
  • Nurse and monitor unconscious patients
  • Assist in oxygen administration
  • Rendering of holistic care to patients

UNIT: THEATRE

  • Identify by name and functions types of operating instruments, types of sutures, needles and suture materials
  • Preparation for surgical materials
  • Demonstrate skill in pre and post -operative nursing care
  • Monitor and report accurately on the post-operative state of patient
  • Acquire skills in patients teaching and post-operative rehabilitation for post-surgery convalescence patient

  • Participate in at least six different types of surgeries

  • Assessing for uterine pregnancy, bleeding in pregnancy
  • Assessing difference cases of abortion
  • Identify prolong pregnancy
  • Assessing laceration of the perineum, vaginal, cervix and postpartum hemorrhage
